Comments | Rev. Frederick William Macdonald the chapel's first minister opened Mersey Road Church for worship on September 1st 1891. The church seated 600 and the architect was Francis J Doyle. Tragedy struck in 1990 when the roof caught fire and caused considerably damage. The congregation held services at the church hall until repairs were completed, this process took two years and in March 1993 Mersey Road Church re-opened. To mark the centenary a service was held at Moor Lane Church in January 1991. |
