Comments In 1911, to mark the Coronation of King George V, Claude Grahame -White, Charles Hubert, and Clement Gresswell delivered the first air displays in Southport. Operating from the new airstrip at Blowick, daily flights were arranged during the summer months. Claude Graham-White was a pioneer of aviation and founder of the Claude Graham White Aviation Company. In 1911 he established a flying school at Hendon Aerodrome and in 1919 it was taken over by the RAF. The Royal Air Force Museum in London, has a fascinating exhibition of the Claude Grahame-White Hangar.
