Hall’s Chapel was situated on the junction of Haws-side and Little London, today this would be referred to as Hall Street and Hawkshead Street. Mr Bartin Haigh a Liverpool Merchant and had taken up residence in Southport and resided at Brunswick Villa in Manchester Road. Mr Haigh supported independent chapels and built Hall’s Chapel for the Rev. Mr Hall who had previously been an Anglican minister but adopted the Calvinistic Methodist doctrine. The new chapel struggled for numbers and eventually the congregation dwindled, and the chapel fell into disrepair.
