Image details

Comments The church was founded in 1827 and at one time the graveyard was one of the largest in Bootle. During the Blitz in 1940 the church was bombed and damaged beyond repair. St Mary’s was eventually demolished and the remains from the graves were transferred to Bootle Cemetery and placed in a mass grave with a memorial. The headstones from the church were used to create a garden of remembrance in Bootle. Early parish records are available to view at Crosby Library.
