In 1910, the August Bank Holiday, Claude Graham-White flew from Blackpool carnival and landed on Southport beach.
His arrival caused quite a stir, it drew large crowds to the beach, mounted police had to clear enough space so, that Claude could take off again and return to Blackpool.
