Image Details
Southport Promenade and gardens, the Lifeboat Memorial can be seen clearly with the pier and pavilion in the distance.
Comments |
The lifeboat memorial commemorates all lifeboat tragedies and in particular the loss of life in 1886 of 14 crew members from the lifeboat Eliza Fernley. Southport Pier is the oldest remaining iron pier in the country and officially opened on August 2, 1860, with much ceremony and excitement. |
