Comments
In 1846 Charles Scarisbrick became a ground landlord for much of Southport. The Hesketh Arms which faced the end of East Bank Street was erected in 1821, and was eventually renamed the Scarisbrick Arms and later the Scarisbrick Hotel. In 1829 it was described as accommodation for genteel visitors with 40 beds and good stabling.
